Sunday Sessions this Spring

Our Sunday Sessions are a fantastic way to complement regular Pilates practice and to learn more about your body and the reasons Pilates ‘works’ on so many levels. With that in mind we have planned these sessions with our instructors over the coming  months:

 

Sunday 7th April 3.30 – 5.00pm : Classical Pilates with Aoife

Pilates now comes in many different forms but they all stem from the traditional system of exercises devised by Joseph Pilates, what we call Classical Pilates.  In this 90 minute Masterclass, you will learn the traditional basic mat workout, some of the history of this extraordinary method of body conditioning and how the principles that underlie the method act as a consistent thread through all of the work.

(Suitable for healthy bodies with no active injuries or major back or joint issues and is contraindicated for Osteoporosis and Osteopenia because we will not be modifying the spinal flexion exercises)

Sunday 28th April 3.30 – 5.00pm : Foam Roller Release  (and Challenge!) with Anna

A 90 minute masterclass focused on using the foam roller (and other props) to release tension in the muscles using various techniques. You will work through the three main kinetic chains in the body to ensure that all the kinks are removed!
For the second part of the class we will use the roller to challenge the body’s stabilizing muscles, so often ignored in everyday activities.

(Suitable for all levels as well as for those with pain or with unresolved tightness in the body)

Sunday 26th May, 3.30 – 5.00pm : Pilates for Desk Jockeys with Sheena

Do you spend all day hunched over a desk? Do you get a stiff neck and shoulders or low back pain from sitting all day long?

We all know that sitting is the new smoking – this workshop will take you through some simple movements you can do both at your desk or at home to re-balance your posture and keep those niggles at bay.

(Suitable for everyone)

Sunday 9th June, 3.30 – 5.00pm : Pilates for Optimal Bone Health

Often a diagnosis of osteopenia or osteoperosis leaves us scared to move at all!

Gain a deeper understanding of osteoporosis in this ninety minute masterclass with Sheena. You will also learn how to find safe and effective movement strategies that you can use both in your Pilates classes and in your day to day life.
