Reform Pilates is a dedicated Pilates studio overlooking Dublin Bay in Blackrock, Co Dublin. Our classes are taught by a small group of internationally trained instructors completely passionate about bringing the benefits of Pilates to everyone Our tagline is to ‘Love the Body You Live In’ and the studio director, Anna Frankland, has a special interest in Pilates for women’s health. We offer group classes on the mat and the Springchair for everyone, as well as dedicated classes for pre and post natal clients, the over 50’s, and Teenagers. Since 2015 we also offer Ballet Barre classes for those looking to ‘feel the burn’!
In addition to group classes, we offer private and semi private classes for those recovering from surgery and injuries or those with specific goals. Participants in these classes use large pieces of Pilates apparatus; Reformer, Cadillac, WundaChair and Spine Corrector. In 2015 we launched the Pink Ribbon Program, a clinical Pilates program for women recovering from breast cancer related surgery.
As a small studio, we take time to get to know our clients and understand the every body is different.
Anna Frankland (Founder and Instructor)
I set up Reform Pilates in 2011 as I believe that everyone should practice Pilates regularly and if possible in a comfortable, friendly and professional environment. I love the experience of working with clients of all backgrounds and with a team of experienced instructors. I particularly enjoy seeing the obvious benefits that Pilates brings to my client’s lives, particularly the confidence that it gives them in their bodies and themselves.
I first discovered Pilates in Sydney when recovering from an injury sustained from triathlon training six years ago. Prior to this I spent most of my spare time training and competing in triathlons at a national and international level. I often think that had I found Pilates sooner it could have greatly helped to prevent the many injuries which resulted in me having to take time off from training.
From then on, I practised Pilates on a frequent basis up until the week before the birth of my twin girls, Ella and Sofia. I believe that this greatly assisted with my postnatal recovery and gave me the energy I needed to keep up with them as toddlers!. I did the same in preparation for the birth of my third daughter Phoebe.
I hold a Diploma in Professional Pilates having trained in both Studio and Mat Pilates with Polestar Pilates, an international training body with headquarters in the US and a training centre in Sydney. Polestar is a year-long intensive training course, which provides students with all the necessary knowledge and tools to be effective teachers. I am also a certified member of the International Pilates Method Alliance.
I have also completed a course in Women’s Health specializing in pre- and post-natal Pilates and have studied Anatomy and Physiology at Nature Care College in Sydney. I continue to update my Pilates knowledge and have a special interest in women’s health particularly in the pre and post natal period and post menopause period. I am a certified Pink Ribbon Pilates Instructor and Buff Bones Instructor.
After my training I worked in a number of Pilates studios in Sydney teaching over 600 hours of mat classes and studio (equipment based) classes. I also established my own corporate Pilates business bringing the benefits of mat based Pilates to Sydney’s corporate sector.
In my previous life I worked for many years in the Dublin & Sydney venture capital industry, investing in, and mentoring, start up companies across a broad range of industries.
Tara Fallon (Pilates Teacher, Exercise Specialist & College Tutor)
In addition to her STOTT PILATES full certification, Tara Fallon holds a degree in Leisure Management and a Certificate in Neuromuscular & Physical therapy. Certified Children’s Yoga teacher and Vinyasa Flow Yoga teacher. She has studied with many of the world’s leading experts in the field of fitness and exercise rehabilitation including Tom Myers, Melanie Byford-Young & Sherri Betz, as well as training with STOTT PILATES Instructor trainers Dani Gonzalez Ares & Raphael Bender in Melbourne.
Tara has been in the Fitness & Pilates Industry for 15 years. She ran her own Rehab & Pilates studio (www.tfallon.com) in Ireland for 8 years. She then moved to Melbourne with her husband for 2 years, before returning back to Ireland to start up earlypilates.ie.
Tara has presented workshops for a number of organisations, including Triathlon Ireland & APMA Australia Pilates Method Alliance. She has clocked up thousands of hours experience working with a variety of clients over the last 15 years.
Tara has extensive knowledge with injured clients. She has unique skill of blending PIlates and neuromuscular techniques to cater for those experiencing pain and repetitive aches. Her areas of interest include, lumbar disc injuries, knee injuries, whip lash injuries, neck & shoulder injuries. Tara has a particular interest in neck injuries having received one herself from a car accident. Tara is also a Senior Tutor at the National Training Center Irealnd where is delivers lectures on the Pilates Diploma course. www.ntc.ie

Shirley Marinho (Instructor)
Shirley has dedicated her career to the Pilates Method for nine years having completed her training in Brazil. She graduated in Physical Education and Sports and is expert in Psychology.
She is qualified to teach mat classes and the full Pilates Repertoire (Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrel).
Shirley has experience in clinical Pilates ( fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, herniated disc, stenosis, chondromalacia, labyrinthitis, high pressure, stroke, kyphosis, scoliosis with congenital rotation, lordosis , stenosis, bursitis (shoulder’s and hips) shin splints, foot pain, muscles pain, stiffness and osteoporosis.
Yvonne Cavanagh (Instructor)
Yvonne has always had a passion for keeping the body moving. Her motto is “A body in motion stays in motion”. A busy mother of 4 children, and over 10 years of practising martial arts, Yvonne realized that her body was becoming fatigued and stiff. Although looking in shape, she soon realized how tense she was holding her body. It was when she attended Pilates classes that she was finally able to feel the change in her body and mind!!
Yvonne’s love of Pilates led her to become an Instructor while living in New York. She receives great pleasure watching people grow and rehabilitate (growing stronger, longer and healthier). Pilates is not just an exercise, it is a way of life!!
After 20 years of living in New York, Yvonne received her certification for all Pilates apparatus including pre and post natal Pilates. Her training is ongoing and regularly attends workshops to bring different elements into her classes. After returning to Dublin August 2015 she soon found Reform Pilates and is delighted to join the team!
Laragh McMonagle (Instructor)
My passion for Pilates has evolved over the last six years. It was recommended to me after living for years with back problems and some surgery. It has enabled me gain core strength and spinal flexibility so much so that practicing Pilates has become part of my everyday life. On a personal level it has given me a confidence and body awareness that I never dared hope.
I find sharing the benefits of Pilates a real joy, and that inspired me to train with Stott Pilates and become a certified matt work instructor. As a mother of two teenagers I have had first hand experience of practicing my new skills on them, and then chose to do part of my work experience working with young people. I am inspired by the positive reaction they have had to Pilates.
There are a lot of different challenges facing teenagers. Pilates has a lot to offer in terms of enhancing core strength, flexibility, and endurance, which can be combined with their other activities and sports or it can stand alone, enhancing physical and mental wellbeing. Exercises can be modified to suit individual needs and can benefit teens of all levels of fitness and ability. It also can improve and bring awareness to posture and alignment and this can be so beneficial throughout life, especially if they are in society’s sedentary, computer screen orientated life style. The focus required when practicing the Pilates offers wonderful relief from tension and stress, and together with the physical changes brings a boost to the self confidence that will be rewarding in itself.

Katie Holmes (Instructor)
I am a Certified Polestar Pilates Studio Practitioner. My group, studio and private classes engage the body, mind and spirit in intelligent, playful and challenging movement whether on the Mat, Reformer, Trapeze or Barrel and Arcs.
Pilates supported my recovery from a broken back, rib cage and punctured lung, cementing my belief in the necessity of mindful movement to heal and rehabilitate wounds both physical and emotional.
My goal is to support and empower students on their own individual journeys. Whether they want to rehabilitate their own bodies, improve their performance in sport and fitness, or simply to build strength from the inside out for all of life’s activities.
I have also completed Anatomy Trains I and II; Polestar Workshops in Osteoporosis, Pre and Post Natal and Elderly Populations. I run a private Studio clinic in Tinahely, Co Wicklow where all are welcome.
